Energy Zappers

Whenever we are around a four or five-year-old child, we all say “if only I could bottle up their energy and drink it” … right? Children always have so much energy, yet where does it all go when we get older.

There are things that we do to influence this energy zapping and we need to know what they are so we can avoid them. If you are trying to increase your energy—you won’t want to miss this.

What is zapping our energy?

-Sugar. This is something that will give you a short lived high but then you will crash hard, which will keep you looking for more. A great way to avoid the highs and lows from sugar is to always be prepared. In our weakest moments, we usually grab whatever we can … so be prepared with a healthy snack that provides a couple ounces of protein to keep your blood sugar stable.

-Caffeine. This may seem strange to you but caffeine does almost the same thing as sugar… It provides you with a high but then most times you get an extreme low, which is causing you to look for more. This can also interfere with your sleep. If there are moments when you need to stay awake so you reach for the caffeine (whether it be coffee, tea, cola, or chocolate) … this will throw off your natural sleep cycle. Throwing off your natural sleep cycle will mess with your sleep for awhile and your body needs to try to figure out the best cycle for sleep.

-Dehydration. Our bodies are made up of mostly water so we need to drink lots of water to help flush out toxins and keep our bodies healthy. A healthy body will be energized and ready to take on the day. Check this out HERE for fun and easy ways to get your water intake in during the day.

-Disorganization. If your home is cluttered and you are trying to find something, this can cause you to be physically drained. If you aren’t getting everything done on your to-do list then you can also cause your brain to be exhausted and create a sense of failure attitude. This attitude will not create energy and in fact, it will do the exact opposite. It is important to create a short to-do list or create a Ta-Da List – to create a better outcome of your day and higher energy attitude.

-Lack of Self-Esteem. This one is a big one. If it is difficult to show the world who you truly are and you are exerting extra energy to be someone you aren’t… this is tiring… this will create a lack of energy. All of your energy is going into being something you are not—leaving you empty and without energy. Our world needs you to shine bright… so show the world the true you. A good first step in doing so is by saying daily affirmation. This is a great way to tell yourself something (even if you don’t feel it’s true or you can relate … yet) so that you start to believe it is true and your mindset will change.

There are many things in our life that will zap the energy right out of you. It is important to create balance in your life and know your body and your mindset. I am blessed to have found a company and product that I trust to help with most of my energy and positive outlook on life. Every person is different and the way every person responds to things are different… so keep that in mind when deciding what is best for your life and your body.

Meet Heather Martin

The sterile scent of hospitals, the hushed, hopeful whispers, and the gnawing fear that lives in every waiting room – these became the unwanted backdrop of my life. It wasn't a single event, but a relentless series of challenges that slowly, profoundly, reshaped my understanding of health and ultimately, my purpose.

It began with my own daughter's cancer diagnosis. The helplessness I felt was amplified a thousandfold. As we navigated her treatment, I scrutinized every aspect of her care, seeking not just survival, but thriving. I began to ask different questions, looking beyond the conventional to see how diet, lifestyle, and a holistic approach could support her body through the immense challenges she faced.

Then, the world tilted on its axis with my beloved father. His terminal cancer diagnosis was a crushing blow, an unyielding reality that traditional medicine, for all its marvels, couldn't alter. We watched, we hoped, we grieved. In the midst of that raw pain, a seed of curiosity took root: Was there more to healing than what we were being told?

My own body then sent a jarring message. I experienced a hemiplegic migraine, an terrifying event that starkly mimicked stroke-like symptoms. The sudden loss of function, the fear, the uncertainty – it was a profound wake-up call. It forced me to confront my own health, which I had unconsciously neglected while caring for others. It was in that moment of vulnerability that I truly understood the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit.

I realized then that I didn't just want to heal; I wanted to understand why we get sick and how to build true, resilient health from the ground up. I wanted to change the trajectory of my own life, and more importantly, my family's life, away from chronic illness and towards vibrant well-being.

This intense, personal journey ignited an unshakeable passion within me. I devoured knowledge, exploring functional nutrition, mind-body practices, and the profound impact of lifestyle on health. I became an integrative health practitioner because I couldn't keep this newfound understanding to myself. My deepest desire is to guide others through their own health challenges, to empower them with the knowledge and tools to create their own new beginnings, and to help them rewrite their family's health story, just as I've strived to do for my own. It's not just a profession; it's a calling born from love, loss, and a relentless hope for a healthier future for all.
